Lets see...a 4x spot weld leaves the surface at about 52-59C . A soldering pencil @3 seconds per application gets up to a temp oh about 200C. But hey, they can take the heat. Right. Last long time.

The only good information is why the iron has to be big to provide enough quick heat to reduce the dwell time which is pointless if you go over it again. Yet you still cook the cell. We can be sure you will soon be replacing at least one cell I would buy his battery pack like I would buy ammo at the gun show. Just order a $20 ebay mini spot welder or even cheaper is to use a car battery and jumper cables.

If it really performs 10c better I would absolutely use this and test it for let’s say a year. If it ist still cooler I would start to sell it.

Must you use resin from pine only or can you use resin from spruce as well? When I was a teenager you could get soldering tin with flux inside the tin and it was often resin. When it comes to inhaling fumes when soldering, you should also consider that the solder many are using contains lead to lower the melting temperature.

All my car and truck glass has holes in them that have plastic caps that hold them in there for the tractor hold 😂😂 He's got floor tile silicone on this window on 😂😂😂 He's got no screws in that window that riding up and down that track I don't think it's going to last very long he'll make another video and redo it and be like look you still there It's still good.

While building my last ebike battery pack the spot welder quit working right near the end of the build, so I had solder the last 12 cells into the pack. One step that improves solder adhesion is to rough up the new cell metal surface with sandpaper before tinning the cells. Solder adheres to the rougher surface more effectively than a smooth surface. Even after taking all precautions to tin every surface and solder the cells quickly, when I equalize charge the pack (where you can see every cell voltage at once) it's quite obvious that the brand new cells that were soldered into the pack have many tenths of volts lower resting voltage than the rest of the same brand new cells (that were spot welded into) the pack. So, sadly, no matter how carefully cells are soldered, damage still happens. A person will never see the result of the damage unless you are able to use a balance charger frequently which shows all the cells voltages on a display in the pack at one time and watch the equalization process every time. Most people (those relying on the BMS) will never see the difference in cell voltage so clearly, and if you are soldering the whole pack, the damage will be distributed equally accross all the cells in the pack, so you'll never be able to perceive the damage because all the cells will be damaged equally. This was a lesson I learned only because I equalize balance my packs. I ordered a K-Weld spot welder even though they are a bit spendy so this will not happen again. The K-Weld unit was most highly recomended if you are ok with using a car battery for the power supply. Great video though concerning the soldering process if you are forced to do it. Thanks

Acetone dissolves ABS to make chemical weld so putting plexiglass in acetone would be detrimental. It just thickens it up over pure acetone. I think most ABS glue just has dissolved ABS in it with acetone.

I was trying to melt clear acrylic pieces in pure acetone for a different project. But for some reason, the acrylic pieces just REFUSED to dissolve. Upon being drowned in acetone for a week, they just got a little soft. But nothing close to being dissolved. Are there any types of acrylics resistant to being dissolved in acetone? Somebody kindly guide me so I can proceed with my project. I have been searching for answer for about a month now, with nothing so far.
